Rector of the Madinah-based Islamic University Dr Mohammed Ibn Ali Al-Akla received here last night US Deputy Consul for political and economic affairs Munir Madyun. They reviewed issues pertaining to the situation of the American students studying at the Islamic University. As many as 51 American students are studying in the University at the bachelor degree stage, two at the master stage and one at the stage of doctorate. Dr Al-Akla told the American Deputy Consul that only 15 percent of the university's students are Saudis and they work after graduation as teachers or judges as well as in the general prosecution field. On his part, Madyun said the US government gives a great attention to the American students who are graduated from the Islamic University, adding that 'we want to be taught by them and we are in need of specialists in Fiqh and Shariah. The Deputy Consul expressed his great pride over the University and urged the students in general and the American students in particular to exert more efforts during their pursuit of academic studies at the University.
