The cabinet has given approval for the new Board of Directors of the UAE's Federal Health Authority (FHA). The FHA board was set up with Minister of Health Dr. Hanif Hassan as Chairman, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber as Deputy Chairman, Saif Al Qubaisi, Dr.Maryam Al Mazroui, Dr. Mohammed Al Shamisi as members. Dean of the College of Health Sciences of the UAE University and a representative of the Ministry of Finance will also be members of the board of directors. It was in December last year, President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan approved Law No. 13/ 2009 establishing the Federal Health Authority that will take over the executive responsibilities of the Ministry of Health, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM." The Ministry is to focus purely on legislation and regulation. The new body will seek to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the nation's healthcare system, a key step in the government's strategy to ensure excellent medical care for all.
