Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja received at his office here today Eric Smith, President of International Federation of Intellectual Property (IFIP); other relevant representatives and officials from public and private sectors who are interested in the protection of intellectual property. At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Khoja welcomed the delegation of IFIP and stressed that efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Information in the protection of intellectual property rights is derived from its belief in the importance of providing protection for its catalyst role for intellectual innovation. The Minister of Culture and Information also praised the role of other Saudi governmental agencies and their contribution to the protection, especially the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Customs Department and Court of Grievances due to their role in the support of this protection. For his part, the president of IFIP expressed deep thanks to and appreciation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Culture and Information in the fight against piracy and counterfeiting of intellectual classifications and the protection of the rights of authors and publishers.
