Angry mobs clashed with security forces in India-administered Kashmir Saturday following the alleged killing of a teenager by police, dpa quoted officials as saying. Seventeen-year-old schoolboy Tufail Matoo died during street protests in state capital Srinagar Friday. Residents alleged the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was behind the killing, a charge the local police denied. Youth hurled stones at the police teams in as many as 10 areas as the protests raged across the tense city on Saturday. Police had to baton-charge and use tear-gas to disperse the agitators. Curfew-like restrictions were imposed in the old quarters of the city to prevent the violence from escalating. "We are investigating the death and hope to unravel this case soon," a local police officer said on condition of anonymity. Mattoo's body was Saturday handed over to his relatives for burial after an autopsy to establish the cause of death, he added. -- SPA
