Authorities in Kyrgyzstan said today afternoon that the death toll in a night of street violence in the southern city of Osh had risen to at least 37, according to dpa. "The number of victims can rise because many of the injured are in critical condition," a spokeswoman for health authorities in the capital Bishkek said. More than 330 persons were listed as injured from the clashes. Meanwhile a police spokesman said the situation in Osh was "tense" despite a curfew in effect, the Akipress agency reported. The military was patrolling the streets in armoured vehicles.
