A British judge says four men charged in the aftermath of an expenses scandal involving lawmakers will stand trial, according to AP. Lawyers acting for the four men _ a member of the House of Lords and three former members of the House of Commons _ had argued that legislators are protected from prosecution by parliamentary privilege. On Friday, Judge John Saunders rejected the argument, ruling the criminal courts have the power to hear the case. Former Labour lawmakers Elliot Morley, David Chaytor and Jim Devine, and Conservative Lord Hanningfield are accused of theft by false accounting. They have denied the charges.
