Newly elected Iraqi lawmakers will meet for the first time next week, a presidential spokesman said Tuesday. President Jalal Talabani will call the first session of the new parliament on June 14, said his spokesman, Nasser al-Ani. Talabani's official order, to be issued on his website and in letters to winning parties, was expected as early as Tuesday. «It has been decided by the president that the first session will be held next Monday,» al-Ani told The Associated Press. Under Iraq's constitution, Talabani had faced a deadline to seat parliament by June 15.
