U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder on Friday said that combating hate crimes against Arab-Americans and other ethnicities is a top priority for the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama. Speaking at the onset of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Holder told an audience that the mindset that some have held that it is "us [Arab-Americans] versus them [American government]," is "simply intolerable." He stressed that the Obama administration will work "rigorously" to impose "impartial and aggressive" of the U.S. laws as it pertains to everyone, equally. Concluding his brief remarks at the opening of the ADC's 30th anniversary national convention, Holder touted the achievements and contributions of Arab-Americans, saying "we must remember this." "We are a nation of immigrants," Holder said, adding we "must start working together...we have no other choice." We are all "looking forward to a more peaceful existence for all Americans," Holder concluded to widespread applause.
