Police in Russia's restive region of Dagestan say three insurgents have been killed in a siege, according to AP. Regional police spokesman Vyacheslav Gasanov says the insurgents blockaded themselves in a building Wednesday evening and police stormed the building Thursday after unsuccessful negotiations for the militants' surrender. Gasanov said police suffered no casualties. Dagestan is gripped by nearly daily violence due to a preponderance of criminal groups and insurgents, many of whom are apparently inspired by separatist rebels in the neighboring republic of Chechnya.
