Officials say vandals have desecrated the graves of 95 German soldiers in a joint French-German military cemetery in eastern France, according to AP. The spokeswoman for the regional administration of the Haut-Rhin province, Agnes Reinstettel, says crosses were torn off some of the graves and white stone monuments were broken to pieces. None of the French graves at the cemetery in Guebwiller were vandalized. Most of the soldiers buried at the cemetery in Guebwiller fought in the World War I, though some fought in World War II. A total of 5,843 German and French soldiers are buried there. The national police force is conducting an investigation.
