Spain's largest workers' union Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) would likely call a general strike to protest the government's economic policy, its head Ignacio Fernandez Toxo said on Friday, El Mundo reported, according to Reuters. Toxo said he would "probably" call a general strike in response to the government acting on "right-wing economic policy, financial speculation and the markets." Spain's two largest unions, CCOO and the UGT union confederation on Thursday promised to fight austerity moves in the courts after the Socialist government introduced a cut in public sector wages through a royal decree.
