India has sought to reassure the international community that it is properly handling a fatal radioactive poisoning that has raised concerns about the country's ability to dispose of hazardous waste, AP reported. A scrap dealer died and others suffered radiation exposure last month when they sawed open a gamma cell. It had been used by Dehli University chemistry students about 25 years ago, then auctioned off in February. S.A. Hussain of India's Atomic Energy Regulatory Board told an International Atomic Energy Agency meeting Tuesday that steps are being taken to prevent future incidents. -- SPA
