A total of 21 children at a Tseung Kwan kindergarten and childcare center in Hong Kong's New Territories fell ill in an outbreak of the hand-foot-mouth disease, the city's Center for Health Protection said Monday. The 14 boys and seven girls, aged two to six, came down with oral ulcers, a fever and a rash on their hands or feet from May 3. All had seen doctors and are stable, Xinhua quoted the Center for Health Protection as saying in a statement. The institution has been put under medical surveillance, it said. The Center also urged local residents to maintain strict personal and environmental hygiene to prevent hand, foot and mouth disease.
