U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is to travel to Turkey next week for a high-level conference on Somalia, his spokesman said on Monday. "That conference is intended to advance the Djibouti Peace Process and its objectives of political stability, security and reconstruction. The conference will also focus on combating piracy off the Somali coast," Martin Nesirky said at a regular briefing. The Djibouti Peace Process is an African-led initiative supported by the U.N., the European Union, the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). It is aimed at putting together an inclusive Somali government and to reconcile the various factions in the African country.
