Saudi network Information Center (SaudiNIC) announced the dates for beginning the Arabic domain names registration under the Saudi Arabic ccTld (.السعودية)( ALsaudiah), according to a report carried today by The Communication and Information Technology Commission's (CITC) website. The registration will be opened in two phases. In the first phase "sunrise period” government and official entities along with the trade marks owners will be able to submit their registration orders to register their names as an Arabic domain names. This phase will begin on May 31, 2010 and ends on July 12, 2010. The second phase "land rush period" will begin on September 27, 2010, opening registration for all the interested parties on a First-come-first-serve bases . On Friday, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Named and Numbers ( ICANN) announced the availability for use of Arabic in domains. (For the first time in the history of the Internet, non-Latin characters are being used for top-level domains. The first IDN country-code top-level domains were inserted in the DNS root zone earlier today. The associated countries and their respective IDN ccTLDs are: Egypt: مصر(Egypt); Saudi Arabia: السعودية (AlSaudiah) and United Arab Emirates: امارات (Emarat), the ICANN said in a report published on its front page.
