The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace here today. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the meetings, contacts and consultations that took place during the past few days on the developments at regional and international arenas, including the meetings he held with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani and former US Vice President Dick Cheney as well as the telephone call to President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir of Sudan in addition to the messages he received from President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania and Prime Minister of Japan Yukio Hatoyama. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said that the Cabinet discussed the developments at regional and international arenas, reiterating the Kingdom's positions which call for the provision of appropriate climate to proceed with the peace process in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab peace initiative. The Cabinet expressed satisfaction on the outcome of the US-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum held in Chicago last weekend. The Forum aimed to stimulate and increase economic cooperation, expand the volume of trade exchange and partnership in business and encourage mutual investments in a way that achieves the interests of the two countries and boosts economic growth. The Cabinet expressed appreciation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for its decision to host the award ceremony of the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation" to be held in 11/05/2010. The Cabinet considered that such a decision reflects UNESCO's recognition of the efforts exerted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to promote dialogue and communication between peoples and civilizations. --More
