The Commission of Industrial Cities has started to implement a number of important projects. Dr Tawfiq Fozan Al-Rabee'a, the director general of the Commission, and Eng, Ali al-Barak, the executive president of the Saudi Electricity Company, have signed two agreements for new projects for feeding the industrial cities with electric power at a cost of SR 619 million. Dr Al-Rabee'a said in a statement that the industrial cities have been witnessing several development projects like electricity stations, highways, lighting of roads, water networks and sewage treatment stations and other projects. He welcomed investment in the industrial cities. The Commission undertakes supervision of 14 industrial cities in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, al-Qassim, Hassa, Assir, Jouf, Tabuk, Hail and Najran in addition to five new industrial cities due to be established in Sudeir, Kharj, the second industrial city in Jeddah, the industrial city of Arar, and the industrial city of Jazan. It is worth mentioning that investments in the existing industrial cities exceed SR 200 billion which employ more than 300,000 workers.
