An earthquake of 6.3 magnitude hit the east coast of Papua New Guinea on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The quake, which hit about 9:15 a.m. local time/2315 GMT, was centered about 18 miles (29 km) east of the city of Lae in the Pacific nation. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii did not issue a tsunami alert, Reuters reported.
