Afghan President Hamid Karzai has named a new head for the country's election commission, the Associated Press reported. Presidential spokesman Waheed Omar announced Fazel Ahmed Manawi would run the Independent Election Commission on Saturday. The appointment of Manawi, who was a member of the commission during last year's vote, comes as the nation starts preparations for parliamentary elections in September. Azizullah Lodin was the former head of the commission.
