A U.S. Navy jet smashed into thick woods in Georgia Monday afternoon, killing at least three of the four people on board, authorities said. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the crash occurred near Blue Ridge in Fannin County. Three bodies had been recovered, with the fourth person on board still missing, Maj. Keith Bosen of the county sheriff's department told the newspaper. The T-39 Sabreliner, which reportedly was assigned to a training squadron in Pensacola, Fla., just missed a residence, he said. It wasn't clear why the aircraft was flying in the area, he was quoted as saying by the United Press International (UPI). A fire caused by the crash burned about 15 acres around the wreckage site. The crash scene has been secured for the night and Navy investigators are expected to arrive later today when the search for the fourth person is to resume. "At this point, it's too dark for us to do anything whatsoever," Bosen said.
