Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani left here Saturday leading Pakistan's delegation at the Nuclear Security Summit with an assurance that country's nuclear program was in safe hands. “I assure the world, I assure the people of Pakistan that the nuclear capability, the nuclear program is in safe hands,” Gilani told reporters at the Chaklala Air Base before boarding a special flight for a three-day visit to the United States during which he will attend the Summit that is being hosted by President Barack Obama in Washington. The Nuclear Security Summit is aimed at evolving consensus on securing nuclear facilities and materials around the globe. Prime Minister Gilani said the summit was being convened as the world has concerns about nuclear safety, according to a report of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). Gilani assured that “the nuclear program is in experienced hands and we have experience of over 30 years.” The prime minister said he has the support of the entire nation in this regard and added that he took the National Security Committee of the Parliament in confidence and the body fully endorsed him. The prime minister who has a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines, when asked about meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said it has not yet been scheduled. Gilani who is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was seen off at the Chaklala Air Base by members of the federal cabinet, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the three services chiefs.
