A quake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the northern Chilean region of Atacama today, dpa quoted the US Geological Service (USGS) as saying. Chile remains engrossed in efforts to recover and to rebuild its infrastructure in the wake of the world's strongest ever registered quake February 27, which claimed hundreds of lives. The tremblor happened 65 kilometres north of the town of Vallenar, 35 kilometres underground. Many people poured onto the streets in panic. The authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage, and no tsunami alert was issued for the Chilean coast.
