Khober, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia, March 23, 2010, SPA -- Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, graced here this evening the closing ceremony of the 2nd National Competitiveness for Preparing Small Businesses working Plans and launching a number of Initiatives and Projects of King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari and senior university professors. Crown Prince Sultan was accompanied by Prince Mohammed bin Fahd, Governor of the Eastern Region, and Prince Juluwe bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Region. Addressing the gathering, the Principal of KFUPM Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan welcomed the Crown Prince at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology, a crucial part of the university. He gave an account on the achievements of the center including its winning a distinguished place in petrochemical researches together with seven renowned universities out of 60 competitors and the winning of 46 patents from the United States and Japan. One hundred ninety more patents are underway, he said, adding that 35 educational chairs were so far established at the university. Then Crown Prince Sultan's donation of SR20 million for the university's endowments project was announced. Also, a number of businessmen extended donations to the project. The event was attended by a number of princes and senior civil and military officials.
