Minister of Culture and Information, Dr Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja opened here today a symposium on "Political Media in Arab World between Freedom and Responsibility", within the activities of the 25th Janadriyah National Festival for Heritage and Information. Addressing the symposium, Dr. Khoja extended, on behalf of his own name and the participants, thanks to and appreciation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for patronizing the Janadriyah Festival. We recall together the role played by this grand Festival in forming the collective memory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and supporting the concepts of citizenship and national unity among all walks of Saudi society till Janadriyah became a distinct trade mark for national culture and transcended to be a tribune for dialogue, inter-culturing and difference, Dr. Khoja said. He posed a question on whether satellite channels role is to make regional policy or to implement it? In accordance to a political agenda or editorial policy? Then, the Minister of Culture and Information welcomed the participants in the symposium which will witness two sessions, the first will focus on the question: Are there a real Arab political media capable to cope with variables and developments in the political and media spectrum? And whether Arab satellite channels succeeded in putting ahead Arab interests or it fell in jingoism trap and ideological strife? -- More
