The Directorate General of Passports will start the full implementation of the System of fingerprinting for renewal of Iqama (residence permit) effective from 01-05-1431 H (April 15, 2010). Director General of Passports Major General Salim Al-Buleihid said "No Iqama for the residents will be renewed without fingerprinting." "In the first stage, two years ago the fingerprinting system was implemented at the airport and international sea or air Exit Points. In the second stage, it was linked with issuance of new Iqama, transference of services and amendment of Iqama and issuance of Iqama for missing one. The Third of the fingerprinting system was linked with the Exit and Entry visa and the final departure, " said Major General Al-Buleihid. "In its current fourth stage, the Passports Administration will complete procedures pertaining to the implementation of the fingerprinting system in all services that are extended to residents who are legally residing in the country," Major General Al-Buleihid noted, saying that this development will serve both citizens and residents and preserve their rights.
