Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Kingdom's Mufti, and President of Senior Ulema Commission and Religious Research and Ifta Administration, today lauded the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz's International Prize for Translation, noting that the patronage of the King for this prize is yet another evidence for his sincere efforts to lay bridges of contact among different peoples to reach knowledge exchange between civilizations. In a statement on the occasion of the forthcoming third version of the prize, Al Al-Sheikh said the prize is an important step to achieve peaceful co-existence among the followers of different religions and civilizations as regards benefiting from the scientific and intellectual output of others. He stated that translation is the effective tool for transferring knowledge from one culture to another. He said the prize also contributes to introducing the contributions of Arab and Islamic civilizations in the field of knowledge and science to non-Muslims of other civilizations. He added that the prize highlights the interest of Islam in science and knowledge, lauding the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques efforts in narrowing the gap between nations and introducing the tolerance and moderation of Islam to the non-Muslim world.
