The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques International Prize for Translation has successfully confirmed, since its inception three years ago, its leading position as the world's most interested in translation, attracting the largest educational and scientific institutions and the renowned translators from all over the world who were fiercely competing to win it. Names of this year's laureates will be announced on Saturday 4/4/1431 H., a report by King Abdulaziz Public Library on the prize said. The report highlighted the history of the prize and the renowned institutions and persons who won it. The prize also reflected the ideas of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on the importance of intellectual contact and knowledgeable and cultural dialogue among nations, his strenuous effort to fill the gap between peoples, the laying of foundations for firm cooperation and the search for joint points between human civilizations, the report said. The prize aims at transferring knowledge from different languages into Arabic language, encouraging translation in the field of science from Arabic into other languages and vise versa, enriching Arab library with distinguished translated versions, and honoring institutions who provided prominent efforts in transferring scientific works from Arabic language and vise versa. The report added that there are five domains for the prize: efforts institutions and commissions, translation of human sciences from Arabic language, translation of human sciences from other languages into Arabic, translation of physical sciences into Arabic and translation of physical sciences from Arabic into other languages so that each winner in the five fields gets SR500,000 bringing to SR2.5 million the total value of the prize. --More
