At the conclusion of its 34th ordinary session, the Arab Health Ministers Council denounced Israel's attempts to alter the cultural identity of the Palestinian territories, particularly its plan to build settlements in occupied Al-Quds and its tampering the Ibrahimi Haram in Al-Khalil. Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League for Social Affairs Sima Bobooth said in a statement today that the ministers discussed the health situations in the occupied territories according to a report by Palestine Minister of Health Dr. Fat-hi Abu-Maghli. Accordingly, the Council of Arab Health Ministers decided to provide the Ministry of Health of Palestine with $100,000, welcoming other Arab countries initiatives to send relief assistance to Al-Quds, Gaza and the Western Territories. Following a review of the health situation in Somalia, the same amount was granted to Somalian Ministry of Health. For her part, Layla Najm, Director of Health Management and Human Assistance who is also in charge of Technical Secretariat of the Arab Health Ministers Council, said the Council reviewed reports on the spread of Swine Flu and assigned an experts committee to follow up the developments of the disease, hailing the efforts exerted in all Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia's efforts to control the epidemic during Hajj and Umrah last year. The Ministers delegated UAE Minister of Health to deliver the Council's speech before the 63rd meeting of the WHO in Geneva in May 2010. They welcomed Libya's offer to host the Healthcare Committee and its implementation of Family Medicine example and Lebanon's readiness to organize the Technical Nursing Committee. --More
