Under Secretary of Culture and Information Ministry for engineering affairs Dr Riyad Kamal Najm has been awarded the prize of personality of this year in the industry of radio and television at a ceremony organized by Digital Studio Magazine, which is specialized in engineering and industry of radio and television. The ceremony was organized in Dubai on the fringes of a conference on "CUBSAT" organized on March 03, 2010. Dr Najm was awarded the aforementioned prize in recognition of his contribution to the implementation of several radio and television projects at the local and Arab arenas. It is worth mentioning that Dr Najm is the chairman of the engineering committee at the World Broadcasting Union (WBU), which includes eight unions. He was also the deputy chairman of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). In 2009, he was elected as the chairman of the Arab Broadcasting Union. At the same ceremony, Dr Najm received the prize of the best innovated project in the middle east and north Africa, namely the prize of the system of MENOS, which is a fully automated and reliable system. Moreover, it is a revolutionary networking concept used to exchange multimedia via satellites. This prize was also awarded to the strategic partners of the project, namely ARABSAT and the Belgian NEWTECH company.
