rooted Saudi-Lebanese Relations', the Makkah-based Al-Nadwah said the visit of Lebanese President Michel Suleiman to the Kingdom embodies the existing deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom and Lebanon. "The modern history stands as a witness for the fact that the Kingdom has always remained a firm supporter of Lebanon and that it has shown its consistent keenness on Lebanon's stability," said the daily. "Moreover, the Kingdom had done its best to put an end to the civil war which engulfed the country for more than one decade through facilitating the signing of Taif agreement which constitutes a reference for the rule in Lebanon." The paper pointed out that challenges facing Lebanon are several, notably Israel which is working to stop its advancement and its genuine and peaceful aspirations, adding that the recent war imposed on Lebanon was primarily aimed at the destruction of the country and bringing about the displacement its peace-loving people. "Thanks to Allah Almighty and thanks to the Kingdom's solid support, Lebanon was able to surpass the adverse impact of the war." The daily also hailed the role of the Kingdom in narrowing the gap among the Lebanese conflicting factions and the Kingdom's efforts in this respect were culminated by the Doha agreement. "Undoubtedly, the current visit of Suleiman to the Kingdom expresses the appreciation of the Lebanese to the Kingdom's historical role," said the daily adding that the visit will provide a good opportunity to review bilateral relations as well as other regional issues. --MORE
