The Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has become Bahrain's third mobile operator with the launch of a new company called "Viva Bahrain". The company was inaugurated last Wednesday at a glittering event held inside a tent specially set up at Manama's Ritz Carlton Hotel, according to a report published today by the Jeddah-based Arab News. Viva Bahrain has been set in motion under the patronage of Prime Minister of Bahrain Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman. "The opening of a Saudi company in Bahrain symbolizes the strong and long standing relations between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia," said STC Chairman Mohammed Al-Jasser in a speech on the occasion. STC won Bahrain's third mobile network operating license with a bid of 86.7 million Dinars ($231 million) in March last year. Bahrain already has two mobile phone companies - state-run Batelco and Kuwaiti-owned Zain. --MORE
