NATO's chief is visiting the Czech Republic, where politicians are split over a possible troops increase in Afghanistan, according to AP. The Czech involvement in the NATO mission in Afghanistan will be high on the agenda of Friday's talks between Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Czech leaders. The government agreed last month to deploy 55 more troops in Afghanistan, responding to President Barack Obama's call for help. But the plan, which still needs parliamentary approval, is strictly opposed by left-wing parties and the outcome of the vote is uncertain. The Parliament had previously approved a deployment of up to 535 Czech soldiers in 2010 as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
