At least 15 people were killed in a stampede at a Hindu temple in northern India's Uttar Pradesh state where thousands had gathered on Thursday, news reports said, according to dpa. The incident took place inside the Radha Soami hermitage in Pratapgarh district, 180 kilometres south-east of state capital Lucknow. At least 15 people were killed and 25 others injured in the stampede at a free lunch hosted by a Hindu holy man, Kripaluji Maharaj, the PTI news agency reported. Local news channels said a temporary shed in the complex collapsed, triggering panic which led to the stampede. There were also reports that a gate inside the hermitage had collapsed.
