A top-level German governmental and business delegation arrived today in Beirut for talks with Lebanon's senior officials on ways to boost bilateral economic relations, according to dpa. The German group is led by Economics Ministry State Secretary Bernd Pfaffenbach and includes a delegation of 27 businessmen. Pfaffenbach held talks with Premier Saad Hariri, and said that the talks concerned ways to deepen economic ties. "I am here to examine economic issues, and I brought along a huge delegation of small and medium sized companies," the Berlin visitor said. "We have a feeling that there is an opportunity in Lebanon because you have a lot of reconstruction, and we see that there are a lot of options in infrastructure, be it roads, water, sanitation systems, ports, etc.," Pfaffenbach added. He revealed that Germany is organizing in June an Arab-German economic forum, to enhance cooperation. "Lebanon will be our partner in the forum. So, this would be the next opportunity to have more room for discussions and also for good businesses," Pfaffenbach said. The German official also revealed that Hariri will be visiting Germany for official talks on March 15.
