The Organizing Committee of 1st Islamic Competition for Ornamenting Makkah Al-Mukarramah being patronized by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Governor of Makkah Region, has received participation from artists from 9 countries including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Algeria, Oman and Iraq. The Mayor of Makkah Dr. Osama bin Fadhl Al-Bar, who is also the Competition's General Supervisor pointed out that the competition entitled “United by our Love for Makkah” aims to disseminate artistic culture through works about the Islamic heritage of Makkah as an Islamic Cultural Capital.
