NATO says military officials from its 28 member states and other allies are meeting to pledge at least 2,000 additional instructors to help train the fast-expanding Afghan security forces. Spokesman Col. Greg Julian Tuesday's says the staff-level meeting is focused on generating additional contributions for NATO's force in Afghanistan. They will serve alongside the 30,000 reinforcements committed by U.S. President Barack Obama, according to a report of The Associated Press. European allies in December pledged more than 7,000 additional troops for the international force, which will soon number about 140,000 members. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, has since appealed for at least 2,000 new trainers and mentors to work with the Afghan army and police.
