Riyadh newspaper said "In 1967, the Arab-Israeli war broke out when former Egyptian President Jamal Abdel-Nasser decided to close Tiran Strait, and the war led to disastrous repercussions". "So it would be better for Iran to realize the fact that if it closes Hormuz Strait then that development will be viewed as a defiance against the entire world," said the daily. "It should be clear that gigantic oil tanks which travel to all continents pass via Hormuz Strait, and subsequently closure of the strait will harm its friends before its enemies because China and Russia will be harmed from the closure of the strait and that development may make them support the idea of imposing economic and military sanctions on Iran," the daily elaborated. "If Iran resorts to closure of Hormuz Strait then that will be viewed as an escalation which will be entailed with dangerous consequences".
