Eight people, including a foreigner, were killed and 32 injured in a bomb blast Saturday at a German bakery in the southern Indian town of Pune. The blast occurred at around 7.30 pm local time when a waiter attempted to open an unattended package according to information from local police and the Intelligence Bureau, federal Home Secretary GK Pillai told reporters in the Indian capital. "As of information available now, one foreigner is dead and one injured. The rest are believed to be Indians," dpa quoted Pillai as saying. Pillai said all state governments had been asked to go on high alert and citizens were warned not to open or approach any unidentified baggage. "All such cases should be reported to the nearest police control room," Pillai said. The Maharashtra state police, its Anti-Terror Squad and forensic experts had reached the site and were carrying out investigations. Central Bureau of Investigation experts were being airlifted from Delhi to assist in the investigations, Pillai said. Pune joint commissioner of police Rajendra Sonwane said the nationality of the foreign victim had not yet been confirmed.
