Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja paid a visit this evening to the Rector of the American University in Beirut Dr. Peter Dorman at his residence in Beirut. He was received by the members of the Board of Trustees of the university Fu'ad Al-Sinoria, Lebanon's former Premier, Najeeb Miqati, former Prime Minister, and Ghassan Tweni, former House of Representatives. At the outset of the meeting, Dorman thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for recruiting graduates of the American university in Beirut while Al-Sinoria praised the Kingdom's support for Lebanon, citing the Kingdom's position as the first to come up to the assistance of Lebanon during the Israeli aggression against Lebanon in 2006. He said Saudi Arabia sent relief worth $50 million and allocated $500 million for the rehabilitation of the devastated areas in Lebanon. For his part, Dr. Khoja reminded that it was tough time for Lebanon but Saudi Arabia was sharing the Lebanese leadership and people the same feeling. He said "this provided a great lesson to us". Asked about the possibility of cooperation between the American university in Beirut and Saudi universities, Dr. Khoja said this matter could be discussed with our Ministry of Higher Education and Saudi universities, welcoming in principle the cooperation between the Beirut university and its Saudi counterparts. The visit was attended by some prominent graduates of the American university in Beirut.
