A mild earthquake rattled northern Illinois state early Wednesday, dpa cited the US Geological Survey (USGS) as announcing. The quake was first reported to have a magnitude of 4.3, but the USGS subsequently downgraded it to 3.8. It took place about 65 kilometres northwest of Chicago. While there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries, millions of people also felt the quake in the states of Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin, CNN reported. "It was really scary. It felt like a train was going by our house," said Doug Dupont, a resident of Belvidere, Illinois, about 110 kilometres northwest of downtown Chicago. "This is not California. This is northern Illinois. We are not supposed to get earthquakes," he told CNN.
