Maoist rebels cut a railway line in the eastern state of Bihar by bombing the tracks Sunday, officials said. Two railway employees have also been killed, Indian Express reported. An official was killed in Bihar and a labor supervisor in Orissa. U.Dutt, a police official, told The Press Trust of India the bombing involved about 40 Maoist guerrillas. The explosion cut the East Central Rail line, which connects Delhi to Howrah. The Maoists had declared a 72-hour general strike in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal to protest a police crackdown in the four states, according to a report of The United Press International (UPI). Several trains had already been canceled, and more were halted by the cutting of the rail line. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called a meeting to discuss terrorism by political dissidents.
