Three workers died in an explosion today at one of Europe's largest chipboard factories, in the western German town of Brilon, dpa quoted local police as reporting. The explosion took place shortly after midday and set a storage room on fire, a factory spokesman said. The compound was cleared, and a huge cloud of smoke formed over the site, 90 kilometres east of Dortmund. The Egger corporation employs around 1,000 people, and is one of Europe's five largest chipboard producers.
