based Al-Madinah, commenting on the peace process in the middle east, said undoubtedly the Palestinians will feel disappointed when the US President Obama retreats from his pledges one year ago about his keenness on exerting further efforts for the settlement of the middle east problem so as to pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. The paper believes that the retreat of the US administration from the policy of exerting efforts for solving the middle east problem in addition to the continuation of Israel to occupy the west bank and build more settlements will put an end to the project of two states and will lead to the project of one state which is viewed by the Israeli right wingers as a contradiction to the project of the Jewish state especially in the light of the demographical fact that the Palestinians will form the majority in that state which is an idea supported by both Palestinian and Israeli liberals. It is high time for Israel to seriously think and put an end to its policy of building more settlements in the west bank and al-Quds. Pressure should be put on Israel until it freezes its settlement activities if it is keen on the option of two states, the daily added.
