A small traffic surveillance plane made an emergency landing today onto the heavily travelled New Jersey Turnpike, part of the major artery between Boston and Florida, according to dpa. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported online that the Cessna landed after its engine started sputtering and losing power. There were no injuries. The plane was monitoring morning traffic for local radio and TV stations, according to Charlie Yeirauch, regional director for Metro Networks Westwood One, which syndicated the traffic reports. The pilot told a local broadcaster that oil was visibly leaking from the plane when it started losing altitude. The plane was carried off the major roadway on a flatbed truck after creating a kilometres- long traffic jam.
