Egyptian Airlines Flight 672 was evacuated at Jeddah-based King Khalid International Airport after smoke was reported in the rear of the plane, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said in a statement yesterday. The flight was about to leave King Khalid International Airport when the captain reported a strong odor to the control tower. All 320 passengers were evacuated, with no injuries. The state of emergency (Level II) was declared at the airport, the statement said. The cause of the smoke was an electrical fault.
