A magnitude 6.0 quake struck east of the Philippines, Reuters quoted the U.S. Geological Survey as reported today. It said the quake, which occurred at 2:49 a.m. on Thursday (1849 GMT on Wednesday), was centered 91 miles (146 km) southeast of the city of Pandan on the island of Catanduanes and was relatively shallow at a depth of 21.7 miles (35 km). The quake did not trigger a tsunami warning.
