UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon today welcomed the planned visit by Queen Elizabeth and her address to the UN General Assembly in New York in July, according to dpa. Queen Elizabeth, accompanied by husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, are to visit UN headquarters on July 6. The queen will be visiting Canada from June 28 to July 6 and will arrive in the Big Apple on the same day. "I look forward to receiving Her Majesty personally on this historic occasion," Ban said. Queen Elizabeth's visit was announced in London on Friday. She will address the UN as the head of state of the United Kingdom and 54 other commonwealth nations that are also UN members.
