An exit poll indicates a legal scholar is leading comfortably in Croatia"s presidential election over Zagreb"s mayor, AP reported. The survey by Ipsos-Puls agency after Sunday"s vote suggests opposition candidate Ivo Josipovic, of the leftist Social Democrats, has garnered 64.6 percent of the votes, compared with 35.4 percent for independent Milan Bandic. The exit poll announced by private TV stations RTL and Nova TV gave a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. First official results are expected around midnight. If declared the vote winner, Josipovic is expected to cooperate with the government"s pro-Western course. The capital"s populist mayor, Bandic, has shifted his stance on various issues from left to right.
