The 5th session of the Omani-Syrian Joint Committee will be held in Damascus on Tuesday under the co-chairmanship of Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Oman"s National Economy Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Recourses Council and Dr. Amir Husni Lutfi, the Syrian Economy and Trade Minister. During the meeting, Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) will be signed on the Planning, Environment, Radio and Television fields, according to Oman News Agency (ONA). The meeting will also discuss a number of topics related to enhancing cooperation in economic, trade, investment, tourism, environment and social development areas, in addition to, cooperation in educational, heritage, culture, media, manpower, fisheries and transport and communications sectors. During the visit, Macki will meet with a number of senior Syrian officials to discuss means of enhancing the existing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields. The Ministerial Meeting will be preceded by a Senior Officials Meeting on January 10th and 11th in preparation for the Joint Ministerial Meeting which will be held on January 12th and 13th. Macki will be accompanied by a delegation comprising Sheikh Dr. Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Hina"ei, Undersecretary of the National Economy Ministry for Economic Affairs, Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and representatives of a number of Governments" departments.
