A spokesman for the governor of the southern Afghan province of Helman said an airstrike by international forces killed seven civilians, two Taliban and wounded another civilian, AP reported. Dawud Ahmadi said Friday the attack took place Wednesday after an international patrol came under fire from insurgents and called for air support. NATO said it is aware of the reports and is investigating. This is the second claim of civilian deaths in allied attacks in a week. The Afghan government said that 10 people were killed, including eight schoolchildren, in a villager in eastern Kunar province in a nighttime raid by international forces last weekend. NATO said Thursday it was investigating the incident.
